Character: Kate Denson
Canon: Dead By Daylight
Canon Point: Descend Beyond
CRAU, Canon AU: N/A
Character age: Mid-20's
Canon Abilities/Powers:
Enhanced Durability: Thanks to the Entity's meddling, Kate can take wounds that would pretty much be lethal for anyone else. She can still die from bleeding out, though.
Enhanced Healing Again, an unfortunate gift from the Entity to prolong the suffering of survivors in trials. Minor medical aid, often self administered can stop some pretty nasty wounds that would be otherwise fatal. These will heal, generally, without scarring.
Enhanced Danger Sense: This pretty much only applies to things that are out to do her harm, but her heartbeat will start pounding in her ears and she'll get a rush of adrenaline to help her run away. This comes with some handy dandy deep seated anxiety. She will also have this response to anything visibly non-human. The farthest distance this works at is generally about 40m, and the shortest distance is 12m.
What is their greatest negative emotion towards an object, situation, or person in their past?:
Kate has surprisingly strong negative emotions for someone described as a "Ray of Sunshine". It was enough that the Entity took notice of and stalked her for years prior to finally committing to take her, something that it normally only does to killers, trying to slowly drive them mad and force them into taking a life.
Kate ended up in a depression cycle, unable to truly feel like herself once she'd played music for money, and not to show her own feelings. It lead to her feeling like she'd killed her muse, and from there, gave her dark thoughts that the Entity twisted further into the only thing that Kate could play, a dark, sombre melody that wouldn't leave her head for the years she was followed by it, and while it was unable to force Kate into taking a life, she does hold immense anger in her heart, to the point that in Benedict Baker writes in his notes that "To cross her would be a mistake."
How strongly do they feel about the negative subject matter, on the scale of one to ten?: a solid 10. She's gonna kick the Entity's ass one day, and bust it's awful spider claws open with a rock.
What is their greatest virtue?: Hope. Even her moniker in game is "The Hopeful Songbird".
How aware are they of their virtue, on a scale from one to ten?: Solid 10.
Kate knew from a young age that her voice was able to bring hope and joy to people, how something as simple as a song could light up a room with smiles. It was that moment that she knew what she wanted to do with her life. By the time she was 8, Kate was performing songs she'd written in front of crowds, playing the guitar she'd practiced since she was big enough to get her arms over it. Anything that brought other people joy or comfort, she was there to sing it.
Even with songs about friendship, family, love and home, nothing she sung was only lip service. Kate made sure to return home as often as she could to her family, visiting them as frequently as she could between the concerts she sung at around the world.
Hope is one of the key things that Kate is able to bring to other survivors, even Benedict Baker remarks so in his notes about her, writing the following about her:
"A ray of sunshine illuminated this cold and gray place - a ray in the form of a woman. I heard her before I saw her, a voice, more beautiful than I had encountered in some time, came drifting through the trees. While a lament might have been more suited to this sepulchral locale, she sang a song of joy, of hope and family. Her warm smile greeted any that joined her at the campfire and, just for moment, they were able to forget which realm they inhabited."
It's her ability to give hope to her fellow survivors that sees them through from trial to trial, where others have fallen and become useless to the Entity, sent off to rot in the void for all eternity after it's drained every last bit from them it can.
Items: Her Guitar.
Samples: TDM thread here!
Special notes: Kate's soul missing parts, numerous trials lost have seen the Entity eat away at it, but it's still going strong.
